Fiona Wernke, Intrinsic Midwifery

Fiona grew up on the Mornington Peninsula, and from a very young age knew that Midwifery was in her future. Over her schooling career, the love of babies never changed, and every time the family visited another family member or friend in hospital, Fiona would drag all of them to see the babies in the nursery window.

2006 saw Fiona complete her Bachelor of Midwifery, before working within the hospital system for the next 17 years, across the Midwifery scope. In 2021 Fiona completed “Prescribing for Midwives”, through Griffith University, achieving her Midwifery Endorsement.

Fiona is now a Private Midwife, with over 18 years experience across the midwifery continuum. In late 2021 Fiona decided it was time to set up Intrinsic Midwifery, to provide holistic pregnancy and postnatal care to women, in their own homes, all whilst educating them & their families, and showing them the mighty power within every mother to be.

Intrinsic means ‘belonging naturally; essential’, and was chosen as the business name, as Fiona believes in women, and their innate ability to birth their own babies.

Fiona is able to order all relevant and requested screening and diagnostics tests for her clients, throughout pregnancy, and into the postnatal period. Servicing S.E. Suburbs of Melbourne within the Casey, Cardinia, and Yarra Ranges Councils. Shared care affiliate with Monash Health.
